Injured peacekeepers good and jovial: Qiliho

Two Fijian peacekeepers are recovering well from injuries they received in a roadside explosion in the Northern Sinai Peninsula last week.

Land Force Commander Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho says there are no life threatening injuries and the soldiers are good and in a jovial mood.

Abel Seaman, Akariva Sigawale and Corporal, Rupeni Masibalavu were injured when their vehicle encountered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) during a routine supply and recovery convoy.

Sigawale and Masibalavu were airlifted to a hospital in Beersheba, Israel for treatment.

Sigawale and Masibalavu are members of the Fijian contingent serving under the Multinational Force and Observers group in Northern Sinai.

Four US army soldiers were also injured after attempting to conduct a recovery and clearance operation in the same area where the two Fijian soldiers were injured.
