Having a Code of Conduct is not new to the roles of the Governor and the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank.
Reserve Bank Governor Ariff Ali today while making a submission on the Code of Conduct Bill to the Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights notes the central bank have had their own code of conduct.
Ali told the committee that they would like to see the Commission initiate their own investigation irrespective of a complaint been lodged.
“Sub Section 9(1) provides that the Commission monitors compliance with a Code of Conduct under the Act by investigating any complaint made to the Commission under the Act concerning an alleged or suspected non-compliance with a Code of Conduct by any person to whom a Code of Conduct applies.”
Apart from the proposed amendments, Ali highlighted that the provisions of the proposed Code of Conduct relevant to their position is in line with their organizational Code of Conduct.
