Information Ministry seeks asssitance

Some news from the Information Ministry:

Those with boats in the western division that can assist operations are requested to call 9905-216 or 9905-457 or 9905-920.

Also those who live in areas that is prone to landslides to take every precaution.

The closure of roads takes into account those areas that are prone to landslides as well so motorists should be cautious too.

Added to that, members of the public/villages and settlements along the Sigatoka River are to move to the nearest evacuation centres.

Those living in these areas are to move to higher grounds and to prioritise this message from the DISMAC Office.

The following evacuation centres have already been activated for those affected:

– Cuvu college
– Vunitovau Village hall
– Nasaucoko community hall

Also the Nokonoko Dirtict School in Valley Road Sigatoka is now open as an evacuation centre.

In Ba 11 centres have activated.

These include:
Bulolo Sanatan Dharama School, Balevuto Public School, Sarara Sanatana Primary School, Karavi Public School, Taqore Memorial School, St Teresa Catholic School, Khalsa Primary School, Moto Sanatan Dharam School, Vatulaulau Sanatan Dharama School and Naruku Primary School.
In Rakiraki the following centres have been activated:

FSC Welding Shop, Rakiraki Muslim School and Malau Sector.
