An investigation has begun into the death of an infant whose body was discovered in a bus parked at garage in Wainibokasi, this morning.

A 56-year-old mechanic found the baby while cleaning the bus which had been parked at the since its last trip on Saturday night.

The body is kept at the mortuary awaiting post mortem examination.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says they are now searching for the mother of the baby.

Naisoro says they are working with health authorities to identify and locate her whereabouts.
