The Indian government is working together with the government of Fiji to develop solar projects around the country.

Indian High Commissioner to Fiji, Vishvas Sapkal says these projects are one of the major topics discussed during the two day India Pacific Sustainable Development Forum held in Suva last week.

“We had the first phase of this project, we started this first phase at CATD in Nadave where 43 solar mamas, they are women who do not have any formal education, they were trained in India for 6 months and there were some designed changes in the solar project to be used, that’s why they need a refresher training.”

He says also part of discussions is the development of the health sector in Fiji.
