India will continue to support Fiji: Sapkal

India is supporting Fiji’s Small and medium Enterprise sector under its development partnership.

Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Vishvas Sapkal says they have already distributed $4.7m grant to this sector.

Sapkal says over 4500 Fijians have benefitted from this initiative and are now contributing positively towards the country’s economy.

“We have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to provide grant of $2.8m US and out of that thirty percent of the amount has already been given to the Fijian side and we are committed to continuing this assistance for the development of Fijian SME sector”

Meanwhile, Sapkal says a team from the Rail India Technical Economic Services came are already submitted a report for the up-grade of Fiji’s rail link which will be used for tourism purpose and cargo transportation.
