The Government will need to revive the level of confidence in the sugar industry after it had been neglected for many years.
Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum assured farmers in Yako, Nadi that the government will do its best to provide the right tools and environment for them.
Sayed-Khaiyum’s comments followed the handover of a cane harvester machine yesterday
“The railway system has been neglected. We are talking to the Indian government. India has the largest railway network in the world. They even have a Ministry of Railways. That shows how big it is. A Ministry of Railways. We are talking with them, we are collaborating with them to help us quickly with the railway system.”
He adds there is an enormous opportunity to use the railway system not just for sugar but for other economic benefits.
