Independent panel to review taxi permits

May 1, 2018 6:30 pm

The Land Transport Authority has appointed an independent panel to review all the taxi permits that will be issued under the new act.

Board Chair, Vijay Maharaj says they will give priority to those applications that were pending close to 2011 since there was a freeze in that year on the issuance of taxi permits.

Maharaj says now they will only issue taxi permits once they attain how many taxis are needed in each of the 34 zones in the country.
