Independent Candidate – Umesh Chand says he is not expecting much from the counting of the votes following elections yesterday.

So far, in the Provisional results released this morning, Chand has only managed to secure 173 votes. The other independent candidate Roshika Deo has so far score 832 votes.

Chand says his campaign was hindered by an accident he had eight days before polling day at Tukavesi Village, Cakaudrove and he has been bedridden since.

He expects around three to four thousand votes at the end of the count.

Chand hopes to contest the next general election.
