Increase in tourists arrivals for the second quarter of this year

Paid employment in the hotel sector has increased by five point six percent from April to June this year due to the increase in tourists’ arrivals in the country.

Fiji Bureau of statistics reveals that the room occupancy rate has increased to fifty two point five percent in the second quarter of this year.

Visitors from Australia made up the highest percentage of arrivals to the Coral Coast in Nadi and the Mamanuca areas.

Visitors from the United States made up the highest percentage of occupants in the hotels in the Northern Division and other islands including Kadavu.

Meanwhile, Suva had the highest number of visitors from other countries with the majority from Japan and other Pacific Islands.
