Increase in allowance for children in residential homes

Children living in the nine residential homes across Fiji will be given $120 monthly allowance from next year.

They are currently given $100 to cater for their basic needs and daily expenses.

Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Media Officer Anshoo Chandra says with this increase, the disadvantaged children will be accorded a higher level of care and better living support.

Chandra says the Ministry is committed to provide the underprivileged children a better future

A total of 168 children are living in the 9 residential homes in Fiji.
