Income tax threshold goes up

Income tax threshold has been increase from fifteen thousand six hundred dollars to sixteen thousand dollars.

Other announcements saw Tourism Fiji has once again received $23.5m to fund cost of marketing overseas.

Investment Fiji which has had a successful year receives $1.2m to increase foreign investment.

$15m has been given to the Sugar Ministry and a further $2m is allocated to upgrade cane access roads.

The government has also allocated $1.5m for the construction of the Nausori market.

Apart from this the Social Welfare Assistance programs will continue and the government has maintained the busfare program for the elderly.

The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji which will now play a major role in search and rescue has been given a grant of $6.6m.

The Education Ministry Education Ministry get an increase of $12m and now their total allocation is $268m.
