The Military should have a place in the new constitution says concerned citizen Laisa Tuimaimoala.

Tuimaimoala made the submission at the Constitution Commission public hearing at the Lami Catholic hall this morning.

She says history has proven that the military plays an active role in the running of the nation.

“They probably need to have a place when it is written because I think that they are part of the process – as they have played a very active role in it. The question we need to ask ourselves is; do we include them or keep them out? But then again we will have to ask ourselves whether this will be the last round, second last round or the third? If not this process this trend to repeat itself.”

Other submissions at the public hearing include the reinstatement of the Great Council of Chiefs and adopting the I-Taukei language as the national language among other issues.
