A Strategic Development Plan for the Agriculture Ministry will serve as a mechanism to improve the sector.

Deputy Secretary Corporate Services and Planning, Vatimi Rayalu says once members of the Ministry develop this plan, it needs to be implemented.

The Plan is aimed at giving ideas and path ways so that improvements can be made.

“There’s a difference between the individual who comes up with a plan puts it in the shelf and the one that comes up with the plan and implements it. We must bring the plan to life because it will guide us in the next five years.”

A workshop is currently underway in Nadi, which features stakeholders like farmers, exporters and the Fiji Development Bank who are putting forth their opinions on what should be formulated in the plan.

The workshop will end tomorrow.
