ILO Tripartite Mission expected in January

November 19, 2015 12:32 am

Employment Minister Semi Koroilavesau says they are working with strict deadlines trying to convene at least three Employment Relations Advisory Board (ERAB) meetings before the ILO Tripartite mission arrives in Fiji.

“Basically we need to organize ourselves and conduct the tripartite forums and go through the ERAB procedures to be able to go through the agreement before the ILO team comes back in January, end of January.”

The ILO’s governing body earlier this month deferred a commission of inquiry, instead sanctioning a tripartite mission to Fiji.

The mission is expected to assess the situation on the ground and determine where the road blocks are that has led to Fiji failing to comply with the Tripartite agreement signed in March this year which called for a joint implementation report on labor law reforms.

Parties to the tripartite agreement include the Fiji Trades Union Congress and the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation.
