The Employment Minister has reminded business communities that it is illegal to pay their workers below the minimum wage rate.

During his last consultation in Levuka, Jone Usamate reminded the business community that it is necessary to have a healthy workers and employer’s relationship in enhancing productivity.

Usamate held a talanoa session with the Levuka Business Community where he also discussed the minimum wage rate which came into effect last month.

He also said that the 10 different sectors have their own minimum wage requirements according to the wage regulation.
