The President for Fiji Taxi Association Labasa Branch, Mahendra Singh says illegal operators remain a major concern for them.
Singh says in the past months, these been a raise in the numbers of illegal operations which affects the work of taxi operators especially their income.
Singh is calling on relevant authorities to take action.
“The Illegal operation of private vehicles and LH rental operating as taxis and we request Police Force, LTA and Labasa Town Council to come down hard on these operators. Upon a third booking, the driver’s license and vehicle number plate to be seized and suspended for operating from their fixed stand and place.”
Divisional Police Commander North SSP Eparama Waqa says this issue they have been dealing with for a few years now and are working hard to combat this.
