Iakobo wins Bula FM Drejia Me Lem Competition

19-year-old Isikeli Iakobo from Cakaudrove has been announced the winner of the Bula FM Drejia Me Lem Competition.

He won the brand new Hyundai Tucson 2019 worth $69,990 after he pulled the fastest time clocking in at 23.53 seconds in the last leg of the competition

Iakobo says Christmas came early for him and his family as he has been preparing for the competition over past few months.

“I want to thank the Almighty for his provision and plans in my life. I did not waste any single time after being nominated as one of the 20 contenders four months ago. I watch my diet, I engage in extensive physical training. All those sacrifices has been paid off today”.

He now plans to sell the vehicle and use the revenue generated to construct a new home for his family.

He also dedicated the victory to his friends, families and supporters across Fiji and abroad.

Meanwhile, the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation through its six radio stations will continue to organize such events says Chief Executive Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

“You need to keep on listening and keep on taking part with a lot of interactive shows with us where you can win some amazing prizes. I’d like to also thank all the family members and friends of every participant who has been here for the last few days supporting them”.

At 3pm today, the competition took a new twist as seven remaining participants had to each pulled the vehicle for 45 meters in a timed final.

The competition was monitored by a team of judges with the help of CCTV cameras.

Other participants were awarded consolation prizes as a token of appreciation for their hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance in the past three days of the competition.
