The International Associations of Chiefs of Police has pledged assistance to the Fiji Police Force in the war against illicit drugs.

IACP President Paul Cell of the United States was in the country last week and met with Commissioner of Police Sitiveni Qiliho to discuss issues relating to national security.

Cell was informed about the plan to establish a Narcotics Bureau.

“He had come through Australia and our Australian counterparts have spoken to him about how we are dealing with our battle against drugs here and other issues that we are addressing here in Fiji, the training that we have been doing together, working with the Ministry of Public Security of China, sending our people there for training in dealing with this world problem on the influx of drugs”

Qiliho said the officers have given their pledge of controlling this menace to ensure children have not exposed drugs as it will impact the health system and our small economy.

IACP will work closely with the Fiji Police Force and learn off of each other on ways to better assist drug issues.
