The digitization of the Vola ni Kawa Bula has been completed and this has been confirmed by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in parliament.
Bainimarama says the iTaukei Affairs Ministry has been able to digitize 646,200 individuals while 450,129 have yet to register their accounts with the TLTB.
The digital storage of records complements the work of the iTaukei Land Trust Board in facilitating equal lease money distribution among landowning unit members.
“We anticipate a full launch in December. To protect and preserve the Itaukei villages, the ministry will continue to survey village boundaries and this involve the demarcation, surveying and registration of village boundaries identification of land reserve for future use and supporting village relocation for disaster risk reduction.”
This reform is also in line with digitizing the registration of land titles to bring about efficiency.
