i-Taukei better understand common name

The iTaukei population understands the common national identity of Fijian – won’t be a threat to them.

This is the view of People’s Charter coordinator Kisoko Cagituivei who says Pillar 2 of the People’s Charter spells the way forward for developing a common national identity.

He says the race card has been used by past politicians which caused racial divide.

Cagituivei adds – the iTaukei know they gain nothing from being racist as nothing has been taken away from them.

Officials from the Prime Minister’s Office were touring provinces, raising awareness about the People’s Charter for Change Peace and Progress.

The common name is one of the non negotiable elements of the new Constitution.
