People are flocking to the third Thurston Food and Music Festival that started in Suva in the last hour.
Event Coordinator Ellana Kalounisiga says Fijians never miss this annual event as they get to enjoy ten hours of live music and authentic food at Thurston Garden.
“People have trickled in the gate right before we even opened they’ve been lined up for tickets this morning. There’s a lot of people here already. The sun’s held out already and we’ve got a lot of shelter in case it rains.”
Kalounisiga says the Music Festival is a proud supporter of local musicians.
“We are trying to promote the value of live music industry. We also want to encourage the young ones that are coming up behind the current headliners, because music is universal and it will never end, so the more the youngsters get involved and get behind these events. The better of for everybody and the future of live music in Fiji.”
Over ten musicians will be performing at the festival from the likes of Knox brotherhood, Nem and Talei, Inside Out, Groove Co. and first-timers, Glass Alley.
Other artists include Vou, Hope Fiji, Rako Pasefika and children from Dave Steven’s music school.
The family event currently being held at Thurston Garden will run until 10 tonight.
