A man who allegedly set his wife alight causing her death has been charged with murder.

Ventkesh Permal appeared in the Lautoka High Court and was charged with murder.

He was initially charged with one count of Act with Intent to
Cause Bodily Grievous Harm and Breach of a Domestic Restraining Order.

Permal was produced at the Ba Magistrates’ Court last week.

However, his wife died from burns she suffered a day later.

The case has been adjourned to 5 May 2015 for the State to file the amended information.

Permal has been further remanded in custody.
