Huge demand for private security with rise in robberies

July 6, 2017 6:27 pm

The sudden rise in burglaries, home invasions and aggravated robberies has led to a huge demand for security from the public.

This follows an admission by Police earlier this week that home evasion is on the rise and the introduction of the “Know Your Neighbour” programme.

Matrix Risk Management Ltd Director, Rasika Reshma says they are now receiving around ten calls daily from residents around the country, who want their properties and lives protected.

“We have been receiving calls locally and it’s mostly from residents and also from businesses mostly Fiji wide. So there seems to be an increase in criminal activities. Basically for residents it’s like theft and loitering around their premises. We have received in the last two months mostly calls from Tamavua areas and Suva-Nausori corridor and in Nadi as well.”

Professional Security Services Managing Director, Vijay Prakash says people need to leave their lights on when they are not at home and urges everyone to work together in combating these issues.
