The Human Resources Department in many Ministries in the country are not well re-sourced.

This was highlight by the Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while speaking at the Bank South Pacific Fiji Human Resources Institute 2017 Annual National Convention during the week.

Sayed-Khaiyum says that there needs to be more investment into this department as it branches out to many areas in an organization.

“In Fiji unfortunately I think for a number of decades the human resources or the investment on human capital has been very much in the background. They have been simply been treated as administrative positions that people climb within the hierarchy and suddenly becomes the manager of HR. There has been not the level of importance given to it.”

He also says the lack of understanding and willingness to invest in Human Resources department needs to be addressed as soon as possible.
