A high powered Chinese delegation is in Fiji looking at potential trade and investment opportunities.
The group is made up of some of the biggest business tycoons from Shanghai – people who spend in the hundreds of millions.
Industry and Trade Minister Faiyaz Koya informed the delegation that Fiji has all the necessary elements for successful business investments.
While Fiji’s imports of Chinese products have increased in recent years, the same can’t be said about exports to China.
“There is however a need to focus on Fijian exports to China and ensure that the trade flows both ways – from China to Fiji – and vise versa. We encourage and look forward to strengthening our relationship with China, connecting businesses and encouraging trade between the two countries. Fiji presents an opportunity to invest in a country that is strategically located and in a hub in the region.”
Koya says Fiji’s made vast improvements in infrastructure, advanced communications technology and has a proven manufacturing base.
The delegation will have one on one meeting’s with government agencies and local businesses which can be investment partners.
