A recent survey by the Ministry of Health has reported high levels of dengue mosquitos in Suva, Lami and Nausori for the month of October.

This has prompted the Ministry to intensify its dengue response activities.

Divisional Response Teams have been activated and they are carrying out household visitations and interventions for confirmed dengue fever cases.

In a statement, the Health Ministry says it will continue to work with municipal councils and other stakeholders to respond to the increase in dengue mosquitoes.

It is also urging the public to act now to prevent another dengue fever outbreak during the rainy season.

The public is also advised to use mosquito repellents, mosquito nets and mosquito screens on windows and doors as mosquitoes often bite in the early hours of the morning and after sunset.
