High demand for electricity in Fiji

There is high demand for electricity in the country says Fiji Electricity Authority Chief Executive Officer Hashmuk Patel.

Patel told FBC News the new Nadarivatu Hydro will meet the demand of consumers in Fiji.

He says it will be the second biggest hydro project in Fiji and will bring down the importation of diesel.

Last year FEA spent $127 million on diesel.

The renewable energy scheme will then replace the expensive diesel generator, we will be able to save our fuel bill which we experience right now.

The new hydro will be opened by the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama tomorrow.
