Heavy rain warning remains in place

The Fiji Meteorology Department says heavy rain alert remains in force for Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Lau, Lomaiviti and the Yasawa Group.

Tropical depression 02F center was located about 75 kilometers east-northeast of Rotuma at 10am today.

The associated trough of low pressure is expected to remain to the North of Fiji.

Meanwhile, a strong southeast wind flow prevails over the group.

The Met Office in its update says heavy rain may lead to flash flooding in Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Lau, Lomaiviti and Yasawa group.

Fiji is just two weeks away from the official start of the tropical cyclone season.
