Heavy rain warning in force for Fiji group

A heavy rain warning is now in force for the Fiji group.

A trough of low pressure with cloud and rain just to the west is currently moving towards Fiji.

Associated cloud and rain is expected to affect the group.

Meanwhile, an embedded low along the trough is expected to bring about more heavy rain and squally thunderstorms with strong and gusty winds over the group from later today.

Forecast for the Yasawa and Mamanuca group, eastern and interior parts of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, there will be periods of rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

Localized heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.

For the rest of Fiji, there will be occasional rain with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms.

Rain expected to become frequent and heavy with squally thunderstorms
from later today.
