A heavy rain alert remains in force for the Lau and Lomaiviti group, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the eastern and interior parts of Viti Levu.

The Fiji Meteorological Services says a south wind flow prevails over the group and a low pressure system is anticipated to pass just east of Fiji early next week.

The associated trough of low pressure is anticipated to affect the country from tomorrow.

Expect brief showers, isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls especially in the afternoon or evening.

Isolated heavy falls may lead to localized flooding of low lying areas.
