Healthy living is vital: Waqaniyasi

Many Fijians with diabetes are getting amputated as a result of presenting late in hospitals.

Fiji Disabled People’s Federation President, Joshco Waqaniyasi says it’s important that people live a healthy lifestyle to prevent themselves from falling into the disability category.

Waqaniyasi says the majority of persons with disabilities are categorized as persons with a quite disability, meaning they become disabled later in life due to bad lifestyle choices

“How many of us actually take 2 liters of water I am pretty sure a lot of us if we had to do calculations I am pretty sure a lot of young people especially youths consume more fizzy drinks”

He says because of lifestyle choices more young people are becoming victims of diabetes.

Meanwhile, he is urging Fijians to go through screening at an early stage to avoid amputations.
