Speaking to FBC News O’Connor says most of the facilities need extension as well due to an increase in the services offered at the facilities and the increasing number of patients.

He says some facilities were constructed in 1970 and they are in dire need of extension.

For staffing, the Assistant Minister says there is enough numbers but there are issues with the transfer of nurses to the rural areas as their spouses and family remain in their respective homes.

O’Connor will be visiting health facilities in Bua tomorrow and will conclude with an inspection of the health facilities in Macuata.
