Pinktober is not only for cancer patients or those diagnosed with cancer as it concerns people as a whole.

Health Minister Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete says Pinktober is for everyone who is susceptible to cancer and this month is dedicated to creating awareness and educating people.

Dr. Waqainabete says people need to realize that cancer can happen to anyone and people need to take proactive measures.

“A person who well needs to understand that they are at the risk of getting cancer and they must ensure that when they have a sign or symptom which is a worry they present themselves to the health facility for review and be seen.”

He adds most men believe that they are immune to breast cancer, however, this is not the case as around five men are diagnosed with breast cancer annually in Fiji.
