Health professionals are now taking a different approach when treating cancer patients in the country.

Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says while the Ministry has international best practices to follow, Doctors are going the extra mile to work with patients on a case by case basis and at the same time provide tailor made services.

Dr Waqainabete says new methods are being used by doctors to treat people diagnosed with cancer.

“The role of doctors such as physicians in cancer treatment is mostly one providing chemotherapy and so forth but also in terms of palliative care and that is something I am very pleased that we doing better than what we were doing before.”

The Health Minister says they are keen to improve the professionalism of the health sector.
