Local breast cancer treatment improves

Fiji has eighty to ninety percent of treatment available for breast cancer says Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete.

Speaking during the Jacks of Fiji’s Pinktober launch in Nadi yesterday, Dr Waqainabete says over the past few years, Fiji has improved in the way it treats cancer.

“Over the last 20 years we have improved in the way we looked after breast cancer – like when I started off in the medical profession, none really knew how to look after breast cancer but now we have all the services available.”

He also highlighted that one in 12 women in the country are estimated to be diagnosed with cancer.
