The Nausori Health Centre

Plans for the new Nausori Hospital at Vunivivi Hill have been halted due to an unfavorable geotechnical report.

This has been confirmed by Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete adding that for now, they’re working on improving the capabilities of the existing Nausori health center.

Dr. Waqainabete says plans are already in place to increase the capacity of the Nausori health facility.

He says they’re doing this due to the increased concerns about the hospital not meeting the growing population of the Nausori area.

“In Nausori we have the Nausori Health Center and the Maternity Unit There is also an accommodation block for doctors which is actually vacant at the moment so that’s being actually transformed with the budget that we have for this financial year. We using that budget to transform that government quarters to use that space for maternal and child health.”

The Nausori Health Centre is open 24 hours a day in response to increased demand for better health services from the Nausori, Rewa and Naitasiri area.
