Fiji Cancer Society conducts home screenings

April 11, 2019 7:05 am

The Fiji Cancer Society is now conducting home cancer screenings for those reluctant or unable to travel to health centers or hospitals.

Former President Phillip Low is encouraging Fijians to get screened for cancer, as it can be treatable and preventable if detected early.

Low says if through the screenings some medical concerns arise, it will give Fijians an opportunity to seek treatment early so that they are able to live a productive life.

“We now have a team of nurse and a driver and we are actually doing more outreach programs and home visits. We are also doing a lot of screening at the workplace.”

Meanwhile, the Society assisted 355 patients last year.
