The government has made huge progress in different areas in the medical sector says Health Minister Dr Ifireimi Waqainabete.

Dr Waqainabete says the government has been working hard to develop medical investigation and imaging field over the last few years.

He says, as a result, there has been an improvement in the laboratory services and also the imaging services.

Dr Waqainabete says the people need to understand that CT scan and Cath lab services are available in the public system and can be accessed by anyone.

His comment comes as these services have been temporarily withdrawn by the MIOT Pacific Hospital.

“So in terms of CT scan – before there was only one CT scan in Suva, now we got CT scan in all the three hospitals, we’ve got an MRI scanner and also we’ve got that Cath Lab that is available at CWM.”

The Minister says this was set-up in a public/private partnership with stakeholders including former Fiji citizen Dr Vijay Kapadia who now resides in Australia.
