The Fiji Mountaineering and Climbing Association will be walking around the country to raise awareness of Non-Communicable Diseases.
Association President Savneel Sangeet says their aim is to inform people that walking is the cheapest method of preventing NCDs.
Sangeet says they are happy to have the support of President Joji Konrote.
“FMCA will be walking with six persons/athletes. We will cover a distance of 475km. Apart from that we will be hosting medical camps, village campaigns, and drink water campaigns and workshop. All these will be the core part of the walkathon.”
Sangeet says the President will also be sending a delegation from his office to be part of the walk.
He adds anyone is able to take part.
The walkathon will be held from the 11th – 19th August where the walk will begin at Sukuna Park, along the Queens and Kings Road before ending back at Sukuna Park.
