The Ministry of Health will have 553 new posts added to its current establishment after cabinet endorsed the additional staff request.
This is being done in an effort to boost health services around the country.
These new posts will be in the various divisions such as dental, laboratory, radiology, pharmaceutical, physiotherapy, environment, corporate division and the administrative department at the Health Headquarters.
This is in addition to the 415 doctors and 800 nurses already being absorbed in the health sector.
The ministry remains fully committed to the provision of improved health care services and to do this, there is a need for additional staff.
Minister for Health, Dr Neil Sharma said capacity building has been on the radar of the ministry and it has geared to provide the best available health services.
