In an effort to promote healthy living the Health Ministry has organised a Walk for Health Program in Savusavu today.
Spokesperson Peni Namotu says this is part of their move for health program and they are aiming to address the risk factor of non-communicable disease.
Namotu says 80% of deaths every year are related to non communicable disease hence the exercise.
“What we found out is that less people are engaging themselves in physical activities which resulted in people experiencing obesity, some having complication of diabetes, some experiencing other non-communicable disease such as cancer and this is basically the result of people not engaging themselves in physical activity.”
The program is organised in partnership with Westpac Bank and the Physio Therapy Association.
