Health Care Fiji to determine opening of new Ba Hospital

Health Minister Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete says the opening of the new Ba Hospital will be determined by the Health Care Fiji Limited.

Under the Public Private Partnership Programme, the company signed an agreement with the government to develop, equip and operate the Ba and Lautoka hospital.

Dr. Waqainabete says Health Care Fiji is currently undertaking their last scope of work at the Ba Hospital and they will give an indication as to when it opens.

“I have worked overseas and I can say it is one of the private hospitals that I have worked in, very beautiful hospital with nice open spaces, the infrastructure is completed and they are going through their due process with the PPP group in terms of how they will open it.”

Meanwhile, the Health Care Fiji Limited is 80 percent owned by the Fiji National Provident Fund and 20 percent owned by Aspen Medical of Australia.
