HC Judge grants Yvette to be seen by doctor

The Lautoka High court today granted an application for Australian national, Yvette Nikolic to be seen by a doctor.

Nikolic is alleged to have been involved in the unlawful importation of illicit drugs and ammunition in Denarau last month.

Her lawyer Wasu Pillay made an application before Judge Justice Aruna Aluthge for his client to be seen by a private doctor as she had contracted chicken pox while being in remand.

Justice Aluthge has granted the application today.

The Prosecution has also been given till the close of business today to file the disclosures.

The case will be called again next Tuesday where Yvette’s charges are expected to be consolidated with her husband John Nikolic.

Both are charged with one count of unlawful importation of illicit drugs, one count of possession of illicit drugs and one count of failure to declare firearms and ammunition.

In a join operation between the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, Police, Biosecurity Authority of Fiji and Health Department, 13 bars of Cocaine weighing 15 Kilograms and Ecstasy tablets with an estimated value of $10 to 15 million US dollars was seized at Denarau Port last month.

It is also confirmed that US$15,000.00 undeclared currency, guns and ammunition was found from the yacht.
