Young diabetic patients from the Pacific are championing a cause – creating awareness on the issue.

Speaking at the Pacific Young Diabetics Congress at the Warwick Fiji Resort, Diabetes Fiji President Dr Wahid Khan says young diabetics have a lot of issues which the older diabetics do not have.

“These young diabetics have issues, issues of schools, issues of stigma in the school, amongst their peers, problems with teachers; they have issues with employers, issues with marriage… We have put a session aside where they bring their problems out”.

Diabetics from the Pacific all gathered at the Warwick for this Congress so that they can get more knowledge on it and when they go back they can apply the same methods and knowledge in their communities to help others who have diabetes.
