A 27-year-old handyman of a Day Care in the Central Division has been charged with one count of rape, involving a minor.

The victim is a 3-year-old girl who attends the Day Care.

It’s alleged the offence occurred in August, this year when the accused called the victim at the school premises and indecently assaulted the young girl.

The matter was reported by the victim’s mother after the young girl complained of genital pain.

The man is in custody and will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court this afternoon.
