Grant to improve livelihood

The Government has allocated $100,000 under NGO Grants to help them develop skills and resources of women.

The objective of this grant is to improve the livelihood and minimise poverty.

Social Welfare Ministry says to date a total of 26 women groups from all the divisions have been assisted with funds to develop income generating projects.

These projects include bee keeping, canteens, bread baking, piggery farming, vegetable farming, brush cutters and fuel projects.

So far a total of $70,000 has been invested into the starting of this income generating projects.

The request for funding came from women NGO’s that have developed a business plan to ensure the sustainability of their projects.
