A grandfather will soon go on trial for allegedly raping his 7-year-old granddaughter.

The man faces two charges of rape.

He is alleged to have raped his grand-daughter on two different occasions last year in Labasa.

Prosecutors say the child has been removed from her home and placed in the state care.

The accused has pleaded not guilty to both charges.

A trial date will be set on March 22^nd when the case will be called again for a pre-trial conference.

His bail has been extended and he has been put on notice to continue to adhere to his bail conditions.
