“We are out and about as much as we can and people have been very grateful. We have just been to settlements and talking to people who have lost their homes. It’s interesting in some settlements that majority of the homes are fine and then there is one house that is gone and obviously that is heartbreaking. And the PM in there he is talking to people and reassuring them that help is on its way. It might not be tomorrow or the next day but there is help coming. There is a lot to organize to ensure everyone get the help. People are very welcoming and great to see so many government officials and people are out here. There are some very devastated that they have lost their belongings but government is doing everything we can to ensure they get back to normal as soon as possible.”

Government officials are continuing the assessment in the west.
