Government will not force anyone out of any evacuation centre says Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

Bainimarama made the statement while visiting Saint Andrews School in Nadi last Saturday.

The Prime Minister told the Commissioner Western and civil servants in the western division that people can only be moved from occupying schools to other avenues unless water and electricity is provided.

Bainimarama says if officials cannot re-locate evacuees by this afternoon, they can be moved to Nadi Hotel.

He says it does not matter if government will have to pay for the hotels as long as people are safe.

He has also directed education officers that all schools opening tomorrow must have all their roads cleared and both water and electricity provided.

Meanwhile DISMAC says the numbers at the evacuation centres in both the central and western division continue to decrease.

The DISMAC office has confirmed that a total of 60 evacuation centres now remain in the central and western division.

In the central division, only 3 centres remain as opposed to the 57centres still activated in the western division.
